David Nalbandian retires from tennis

2.10.13
David Nalbandian announced his retirement from professional tennis on Tuesday.

After a shoulder injury that prevented him from playing the Davis Cup, the 31 year old Armenian-Argentine said that his shoulder did not “respond well” to the treatment.

When asked for his best moments in tennis, Nalbandian replied: "The most beautiful are linked to the Davis Cup. That event feels different to anything. It was the only thing that we couldn’t achieve”.

He was member of the runner-up teams in Davis Cup in 2006, 2008 and 2011. He was also runner-up at the 2002 Wimbledon Championships and winner of the Tennis Masters Cup in 2005. Nalbandian has won two Masters 1000 events and reached semi-finals or better at all four Grand Slam tournaments in his career.
